  • April 21st, 2010: Day 12-Earth Day Edition

    Good afternoon,

Earth day: a day of tree hugging, power outs, tree planting and some good old green fun.

For those of you living under a rock all your lives, Earth day was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson on April 22, 1970. It is a day to apprieciate the earth and help it out a little.

April 22, 2010 is also recognized as much more segnificant day. Why? Because Avatar is coming out on DVD and everyone will be watching it (problem there: You're using power to watch a tree-hugging movie).

I would very much like to participate in Earth day, since it's on my bucket list, but I can't. I have no trees to plant, I can't shut off the power for the entire day due to school, I can't stop using water, and I have no group for doing ditch/yard clean-ups. I guess Earth day will just have to wait until next year x.x

Anywho, it seems like plenty of people are celebrating Earth day by chopping down every tree in their yards and burning every forest down in the area. There are fire bans in most places in Canada, but it seems like these people haven't seen the signs...

April 16, 2010: Day 11-Did Technology Change People for the Worse? (beware, this is a long post)

    Good Afternoon,

I have a topic that has always lingered in the back of my mind: Has certain technologies actually changed people...for the worse? the television and the computer are the "certain technologies" I am mentioning.

The television is an invention that was invented by several people and was demonstrated by John Logie Baird in 1926. The television set is most commonly used for entertainment, news, and advertisement. Today, it is quite uncommon to find a household without a television set. People can go hours watching it, and it doesn't always promote appropriate things.

You can find television programs that promote violence, sexuality, and bad behavior, and this has a bad affect on children. Because youth see certain things on T.V, they find it alright to do. It's the monkey see monkey do affect, and that isn't good. Studies show that children who have high media exposure can cause early sexual activity in children. The reason why people change via television: the media promotes bad programs.

The computer was also invented by several people and the first electronic computer was made in the mid 20th century. The computer is used for work, school, projects, graphics design, news, shopping, ect. The computer is a great invention because it helps do some things that are hard to do by hand. It is a good way to keep in touch with people by using email, facebook, myspace, and so on. The. average person spends 14 hours a week or more on the internet. Like any piece of technology, this one has some disadvantages.

The computer can be a dangerous thing if abused. Teenagers can use chatrooms and websites to meet new people, and this isn't always a good thing. Sexual predators can pretend to be a teenager if they wanted to, and no one would ever know. Teenagers and adults can send racy photos to others without knowing the consequences of their actions.  People need to know that anyone can use the computer, and not all of them are good people.

So now my rant is over xD

    Have a good weekend!

    April 12, 2010: Day 10 - The Return

    21.jpg awww image by kitt11111111

So it's been nearly 3 months since the last time I blogged >.> That's a long time. Ironically enough, my last blog title was "Last Day". Hm.

It has been a year and 8 days since I have started blogging. Happy belated Xanga birthday to myself ;)

Anyways, so here is some more bucket list updates:

    114. Paint/draw something on a wall/sidewalk - completed

    115. Celebrate Valentine's day - Completed

    116. Get 100% on a test - Completed <3

    117. Read all of William Shakespeare's poems

    118. Pay for something in pennies

    119. Prepare loose tea

    120. Complete my drama camp bucket list

    Drama Updates

So I had never got around to blogging about my performances in drama. So the first night was okay, but I was off pitch on my song, the matinee/second performance went bad because not only was I off pitch, but I forgot the lines to the song, the third performance went good for the song except I forgot all of my lines for one scene, and then the final night was awesome!

    January 27th, 2010: Day 9-Last day

    Hey everyone,

I just realized something....Thursday January 28th, 2010 is the last day of this semester since we get Friday off Dx It's sad but at least I don't get mid-terms xD I will really miss my options course though; I took study skills with the same guy that taught my Spanish class last year. He is the nicest teacher I have ever had :)

I had a thought just now. Like just now as in right here, where you are reading it. I get to have an end of the semester cleaning 8D meaning online locker, my desk, book shelf, and everything else is going to be clean again! Im so happy actually, it's quite the mess around here.

    BUCKET LIST UPDATE!

I have taken the liberty to work on my bucket list this week. I have chosen:

    14. Get an 85% average in a subject (You guys won't know if I completed it until the end of the school year though)

    77. Know 100 quotes (I know about 14 so far and I write them all on my binder xD)

    92. Complete my "100 books to read" list

Also, I really want to know something. Why do I have all of these friends on here and yet, I talk to none of them? So I am wondering, how is everyone?
